Melbourne Polytechnic has been delivering vocational training since 1912 and they are one of the largest TAFE providers in Victoria, Australia.
With so many competing options for potential students within Australia and internationally, the focus of the new website design and development was around immersion, engagement and enrolment conversion.
In order to better understand the user needs, Monkii undertook a user centred approach to design, utilising in depth interviews, card sorting and user testing, to gain a deeper understanding into students priorities, pain points and key tasks.
Navigation was a focal point for this site, with the priority to ensuring this aligned to the paradigms of the key users, including prospective students, existing staff and administration. Course pages and landing pages were designed through key insights gained throughout working directly with users, ensuring these were visually rich and emotive - compelling the user to explore and ultimately get in touch, or attend an info session.
At the core of our technical approach was to deliver the functional requirements through a modern, open CMS (Umbraco) in conjunction with custom development connecting to internal systems like their student and course management software and CRM. Monkii were able to provide a perfectly tailored solution for Melbourne Polytechnic that meets their specific needs as an educational institution. Our strategy was built upon a long term vision, orchestrated to be cost effective and sustainable for the future.
The new site has provided Melbourne Polytechnic with a strong digital platform, that balances attention between information and visual engagement.
